Our Guests

Currently we are in the process of obtaining public recycling receptacles (the back of the house has used them for almost a year)

We have drafted a letter that can be found in our guest service directory located in all guest rooms informing guests of our efforts and asking them to contribute through their efforts to assist us in minimizing waste.

Maintenance

All public area thermostats are set and regulated to mirror one another following the same guidelines as the guest rooms.

All exterior lighting is set on a photocell and is adjusted seasonally.

AC filters are replaced monthly and marked as they are installed for tracking.

All energy efficient equipment is checked and any issues are corrected on a quarterly or monthly basis.

All large appliances and batteries are recycled upon replacement.

Steam bath and sauna have a timer’s so they shut off after guest use.

All air intake and supply grills remain unobstructed to maximize energy usage.

All associates on hand are making sure that the lights are off and the thermostats are set low when the meeting rooms are not in use.

Currently we are in the process of purchasing energy efficient water heaters. This will reduce the amount of gas consumed by as much as 25%.

Kitchen

Only full loads of dishes are run as to conserve water.

All lights and equipment are turned off and/or unplugged at the close of day.

Sinks are not filled with water until needed and are only filled once a day (when possible).

Housekeeping

The housekeeping department’s primary responsibility is managing our guest rooms’ waste.

Trash can liners are not used in guest rooms.

Guestroom thermostats will be regulated and set at a standard of 68 degrees heat (set on auto heat in the winter) and 72 degrees cool (set to auto cool in the summer).

Linen and cleaning supply re-use programs are in place and strictly adhered to.

Only full loads of linens are run to conserve water.

All lights and unused electrical items are shut off or unplugged in the housekeeping / laundry area at the end of each work day.

Low flow shower heads have been installed and are used in guest rooms.

Front Desk / Administration:

All ink cartridges are recycled.

All Paper is reused and then recycled accordingly.

Bottles and cans are also recycled the proceeds are donated to the American Cancer Society for which ALBHS is a corporate sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative.

All office equipment is on energy saver mode and unused equipment is shut down at the end of each work day to conserve energy.

Paperless communication is encouraged throughout the building

All Departments:

All departments recycle paper, cardboard, plastic and aluminum. Recyclables are collected on a daily basis and recycled accordingly.

All departments turn off or dim any unnecessary lighting whenever possible.

All departments unplug any unused equipment at the end of the day or shift.

Energy efficient bulbs have been installed in all compatible light fixtures.

The hotel partners with as many “green friendly” vendors as possible while maintaining Hampton standards.

Hampton Inn as a Brand

Educating guests through our “Take Care” pages located in our Guest Service Directories.

As a brand The Hampton Inn has decided to go green by switching all of the paper products with more biodegradable and less toxic recyclable paper. Tater ware is now used specifically for bowls, plates, and plastic utensils. The specification also calls for biodegradable and post consumer recycled napkins, paper towels, and cups.
